There have been a lot of designer’s CVs showing up in the interviews nowadays and applicants think that it’ll impress the recruiter to the bottom of his/her heart. Well, one thing you must note is that recruiters decision would be based upon not just a good CV, but also on your presentation & how proactive you act while solving a problem statement.
Always remember, Hiring can be uplifting and inspiring but it can also be a touch frustrating for your recruiter. So, be extra sure in your next interview to avoid such discrepancies. Here’s a list of the little things that really irritates a recruiter about your design CV,
Making your CV in Photoshop
A recruiter’s bar is pretty low when it comes to design CV; it basically needs to be legible and not set in Papyrus font. And definitely not a jpeg. Or a jpg inserted into a PDF. Yeah, we all know that one can do some fancy miracles with Photoshop. But ask yourself, do you want to make your CV a 10MB, multi-coloured mess?
I can’t copy and paste any of your details, which is kind of a problem if I actually wanted to contact you. Fortunately, I do not. So, next time be sure, that even if you are using Photoshop, you must account ‘understandability’ of your CV with the highest priority.
The Skills Chart Mess
Once upon a time, somebody in this world, somewhere in the part of this world thought it’d be a good idea to rate their skills by way of bar-chart. It was — and still is — a decently good idea. But that doesn’t stop every-graduate-ever carefully crafting their very own barometer of the specified skill. I mean, that one must know how well to rate their skill, for eg, if you rate Android as 85% on a scale of 100, you must know that why are you doing so? As if the recruiter asks you, you need to have an answer on this.
Mentioning Your GURU Skill at Microsoft Office
Understand, It’s the 21st century. This is not a great “key skill”, even kids know it nowadays. If you were to state an example on this, It’s about as impressive as being able to tie your own shoelaces.
Listing Your CBSE results in Full
Seriously, that B grade in Home science that you got in your class 12th board exams won’t be of much help.
Anything more than a Relevant Experience
Some recruiters get it; you learned teamwork by doing a part-time job as an assistant typist. But if you are looking for a job as a web developer, your experience doesn’t account to anything. Be sure to include only the relevant experience while applying for a job.
Wohh exactly what I was looking for, thanks for posting.
